Meet Carrie!
Carrie is a 1 year old Border Collie Mix. She is a beautiful girl with a glossy, easy to care for smooth coat. She has cute Yoda ears that open out to the side when she hears something. Carrie just wants the pampered life she was born to live. She is perfectly happy following her person/s around or sitting at their feet with a chew toy. She is not a high energy border collie, and doesn’t appear to have much of a herding instinct but she is very smart and very food motivated and she would exceed in obedience or Rally.

As far as we can tell she was a strictly outdoor dog who never got much human attention. At first she was terrified to go into her foster mom’s house. Now she is an old pro and prances in and out at will. She didn’t appear to understand dog toys were but now she helps herself to the toy basket. She will chase a ball but will carry it off to a corner of the yard to chew it. She doesn’t get why her two foster BCs want to chase the ball over and over.

Carrie has learned to sit and lie down and she is working on not jumping up on people. She can get a little excited when she is let out of her crate in the morning but quickly settles down once she gets her requisite attention, then will wander off to do her thing (usually exploring the yard or lying on the plush orthopedic dog bed with a chew toy). She loves her crate and has had no accidents in the house.

Carrie does okay with her foster mom’s two male dogs but does guard her food bowl. It is unknown how she does with female dogs, cats or other animals. The shelter she came from said she was good with children, but she would not be recommended for a home with small children until she learned not to jump. Carrie is very resilient but she will need to be introduced to new situations slowly.

Her ideal forever home would be as an only dog who receives lots of attention and positive reinforcement from her people, and would be involved in activities that would utilize her intelligence.
